Last time we met…
Last summer we created a template for what Red Giant Project could be. Closing out both Lightning In a Bottle and Electric Forest on the Grand Artique stage gave us a chance to pilot the project with an audience.
Each performer brought a unique veteran experience and eclectic sound, and we felt we really had a vibe going.
Two of our members had children this year….thus, we made records from home.
We were beginning to announce shows, festivals and our debut record (all to drop right about now), but alas-like you, our plans are on hold till the ‘Great RESET of 2020’ is finally over.
We try not to live with regrets, but we did promise the crowd at EF that we would drop ‘all’ of our music when we left the festival, and to anyone that was paying attention to that, apologies.

New music
‘Wait It Out’ is our little reflection of hope during this pandemic, and the first of our collab’s with the great Karl Denson. He starts the song with a flute solo that takes the Lely’s we on a sort of hopeful yet introspective journey. It’s like our old self looking at our young selves, carelessly say goodbye to a chapter, and embracing the unknown road ahead. I feel a drive on the coast and Cali sunset when I listen.
And a big-love infused-RESET.
The solo paints an almost scenic landscape, bouncing and weaving around a lo-fi hip hop beat and soulful piano riff.
Enter the raw power and beauty of vocalist shane hall, as he invite the listener into his relationship. He sets the scene with great analogy, building an the imagery that becomes the chorus, which rings of CONTENTMENT.
“We can plant a garden in our living room, and we can wait it out till the summer comes back.”
Burkey then does a little descriptive word play around a moment in time, bringing a certain playful, personal connection to the imagery.
